Application Deadlines

ITECH offers one primary semester for entrance, the winter semester. Applications are therefore accepted once per year, the application deadline is February 15th!

Admission requirements

The ITECH program is a full-time two year Master of Science program for students who hold a three year bachelor’s degree (minimum) in one of the following fields:

  • architecture
  • civil / structural engineering
  • biology or bionics
  • urban planning
  • environmental engineering
  • computer science
  • similar engineering or natural science degrees

Program Language

All programme courses are fully instructed and evaluated in English.

Master of Science Degree

The programme leads to an internationally accredited master’s degree and is offered as a two-year full time programme (equivalent to 120 ECTS). For students with a bachelor’s degree in architecture, the completion of the full two year M.Sc. programme (120 ECTS) provides an internationally accredited degree in architecture.

Application Requirements

All applicants for admission to the ITECH Program are required to submit the following credentials and documents:

1. Online Application:

All applicants must submit their application via the online system of the University of Stuttgart (C@MPUS portal).
The C@MPUS portal will open for ITECH applications in Mid-December.
There is no application fee.

2. Transcripts:

2.1 A scan of your high school diploma or equivalent should be uploaded when you complete your online application.

2.2 A scan of your official degree certificate and course-by-course transcript should be uploaded when you complete your online application. If you have not graduated yet, only submit a scan of your course-by-course transcript. Request an official copy from your school, either digitally or physically, scan it, and upload it. It must have your name and the name of the school on the transcript, along with all courses attended and respective grades. 


International students must have all transcripts translated into English or German by a certified translation service. Both the unofficial and the English translated version must be submitted. If you are accepted and decide to enroll, you must then submit your official transcript once during the enrollment process in Stuttgart.

3. Motivation letter:

Your motivation statement should discuss your long-range goals and interest in the chosen discipline and reason for applying to the program. You will upload it on the application site. The motivation statement should be no more than 500 words.

4. Portfolio:

All applicants must present a portfolio providing evidence of their interest in the field. Portfolio requirements: 10 pages max (Din A 4 format, single pages), max. 10 MB - links to websites cannot be accepted.

Your portfolio should contain examples of your best work. Work included in the portfolio may be self-generated, professional assignments, or course assignments done in an undergraduate or graduate program. If group work or professional work is shown, you should also clearly state your contribution to this project.
The intent of this portfolio review is for you to demonstrate creative potential, and give us enough information about you to determine whether or not this program is appropriate for you. Most importantly, the Admissions Committee will determine if you demonstrate the potential to successfully complete the Master’s degree program.

5. Additional Documents:

Fill out the document "Ergänzungsformular des Zulassungsausschusses" (see download link below), and upload it with your application.

7. Proof of English proficiency:

ITECH´s minimum required scores for applicants whose native language is not English are:

IELTS certificate (overall band score 6) or
TOEFL certificate (550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, 79 internet-based) or
CAE - Cambridge Advanced Certificate in English or
CPE - Cambridge Proficiency Certificate in English

This requirement is waived for applicants who have earned a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a school that conducts all courses 100% in English.

Please make sure that you register for a test that will enable you to submit your scores by the application deadline. It generally takes four to six weeks to receive the scores.

8. APS Certificate:

Applicants from China, Mongolia, Vietnam, and India must submit a certificate from the “Akademische Prüfstelle (APS) des Kulturreferats der Deutschen Botschaft”.

Applications are submitted through the C@mpus System, so please do not mail any documents, as they will not be returned to the student.
