Financing your education, fees and costs

A short introduction into tuition and fees at the University of Stuttgart, living costs and scholarship options.

When considering a Master´s degree program, especially if it is abroad, it is important to have an overview of the overall costs, and to include them in the planning of your studies from the beginning.

The following approximate costs are in effect at the time of publication:

Tuition and Fees

All ITECH students are required to pay a general semester fee, which is approximately EUR 190.

From the winter semester 2017/18 onwards, higher education institutions in Baden-Württemberg are charging tuition fees for international students and for students taking up a second study program. International students who are not citizens of an EU/EEA country and who are taking up a consecutive study program,are required to pay tuition fees of EUR 1,500.00 per semester in addition to the general semester fees of the University of Stuttgart.
There are no tuition fees for German and EU citizens attending the ITECH programme at the University of Stuttgart.

Cost of living

The cost of living in Stuttgart depend on several factors, but you should expect the living costs in Stuttgart to be high.
If you have to apply for a visa or a residence permit you need to provide prove sufficient financial resources before beginning your studies at the University of Stuttgart. If you stay for more than a year, you will need to provide this proof for at least 12 months.

Scholarships

If you plan to apply for a scholarship, it is important to know that the search for a scholarship should begin before applying to a study program, since these programs usually require applications to be made from abroad and ahead of time.
