ITECH Thesis Project Reclaimed Design wins Green Concept Prize 2025

We’re proud to announce that the ITECH thesis project “Reclaimed Design – An availability-oriented design methodology for reclaimed lumber” has won the Green Concept Award 2025 in the Studen category for Building Design!

The award was presented at the Green Product Award ceremony on May 15 at the Nordic Embassies in Berlin, where ITECH Alumni and ICD/CA researcher Laura Marsillo accepted it on behalf of the team - Clara Blum and Gonzalo Muñoz Guerrero.

Reclaimed Design introduces a new methodology that redefines how we design with reclaimed lumber, not as a limitation, but as an opportunity. Through computational design, material analysis, machine learning and equilibrium-based structural design, the project offers a sustainable approach that adapts to the material’s availability and characteristics.

This research pushes the boundaries of how we can maximize the structural and aesthetic value of reclaimed lumber, paving the way for more circular, resource-efficient design practices in architecture and construction.

The Green Concept Award is part of the internationally recognized Green Product Awards, and celebrates cutting-edge ideas in sustainable design.

Congratulations to ITECH alumni Laura Marsillo, Clara Blum and Gonzalo Muñoz Guerrero!

We are thrilled to see the innovative and interdisciplinary work of our ITECH being recognized!
